Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski is the first Bulgarian high academic school establishment. Its history is an embodiment and a continuation of the century-long cultural and educational tradition of the Bulgarian nation.

Faculty of Chemistry and Pharmacy

The Faculty of Chemistry and Pharmacy (FCP) of SU is a leading research and educational organization in the field of Chemistry in Bulgaria. Most of the academic staff members are active researchers in all areas of contemporary chemistry and work on joint research projects with leading research centers in Europe, USA and Japan. In Sofia University, the FCP is the leader in number (and total income) of research projects as well as industrial projects (ca. 30 per year). FCP has recently been coordinator of three EC-funded projects in the field of advanced materials.

The Faculty of Chemistry and Pharmacy (FCP) of SU, with 26 full professors, 35 associate professors and 56 assistant professors, hosts over 700 students and 20 PhD students. Among the academic staff, 109 members have PhD degree and 11 members – the higher doctor of science (DSc) degree. Most of the academic staff members have spent research periods in leading research centers in Western Europe, North America and Japan. Their research papers are published in peer reviewed international journals (about 100 papers per year) and are widely cited in the scientific literature (more than 4000 citations per year).
